After earning my bachelor’s degree in Education with a specialization in Biological Sciences from the University Center of East Minas Gerais (UnilesteMG) in Brazil (2011), I engaged in undergraduate research on plant spore morphology and bryophyte diversity. I later pursued a master’s in Plant Biology (2015) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), where my research focused on the physiological and morphological responses of Physalis peruviana to foliar silicon fertilization and varying water conditions.
My research and teaching interests span plant physiology, botany education, ecological adaptations, and undergraduate research mentorship. In my career, I have presented research findings at national and international botanical conferences, contributed to interdisciplinary plant science studies, and mentored students in STEM education. Since joining Valencia College in 2018, I have been involved in curriculum development, restructuring my courses to emphasize scientific reasoning through independent research opportunities for undergraduate students. I hold Associate Professor and Digital Professor Certifications from Valencia College and continue to pursue professional development opportunities in active learning and online teaching methodologies.
Beyond academia, I have a deep appreciation for nature, design, gardening, and spirituality, and I enjoy visiting beaches and natural springs. My commitment to education, research, and student success drives my work as a biology educator.
